Catalinas was inspired by the pair of hummingbirds that frequented our feeder this past winter. We had so much fun watching them whip around at lightning speed with each other. The Catalinas are the mountains that we see when we look out the back of our kitchen nook window.
Through layers of acrylic, house paint, graphite, and expressive mark-making, the painting invites you to look beyond the subject and get lost in the interplay of color, texture, and shape. My hope is that each time you return to it, you discover something new.
